Cu, C12200
UNS is the unified numbering system used in alloy designation system. It is not a specification but an orderly method of identifying copper and copper alloy. The purpose is to provide a tracking with identification marking of mill and foundry products.
Numbers from C10000 through C79999 denotes wrought alloys.
Numbers from C80000 to C99999 denotes cast alloys.
Within wrought alloy, the compositions are grouped into the following families of copper and copper alloys.
Copper and High Copper Alloys
Copper UNS and Types of Copper
Chemical Composition Comparison
Test requirements
Alloying elements and properties of copper alloys in C12200 Copper
i) Phosphorus: The presence of P acts as deoxidant, by preventing hydrogen embrittlement, the copper strength and hardness is increased and weldability improved.
ii) Corrosion Resistance: Natural, industrial and maritime air, non-oxidizing acid, alkaline solution and neutral saline solution
iii) Non resistance to: sea water, oxidizing acids, ammonia, halogenide, cyanide and hydrogen sulfide solutions
iv) Application: Flexible pipes, air conditioning, heat exchanger, process equipment manufacturing
