REFNET IN HVAC

VRV vs VRF. System. What's the difference?

Everyone in the HVAC industry wouldn’t be a stranger to this term. However, what is the difference between the two? Don’t be surprise. The answer is, they're actually referring to the same thing!

For starter, VRV, a.k.a Variable Refrigerant Volume is a term copyrighted by Daikin.

While VRF, a.k.a Variable Refrigeration Flow is the same terminology adopted by other HVAC manufacturers.

Types of VRV/VRF

Easyair here has given a very clear explanations on the types of VRV/VRF system. Essentially there are of 4 types:

i) Water cooling system

ii) Heat Pump system

iii) Heat Recovery system

iv) Gas System

Learning about the system, we should know that installation plays a crucial part in ensuring fully functioning, cost effective and energy efficient system. Thus REFNET comes into picture.

Installation of VRV/VRF with REFNET

Refnet, also refer as Y branch copper fittings is use in connecting VRV/VRF system. Over here we refer to the first VRV system inventor for the types of REFNET and how they connect the system.

Essentially, there are 3 types of REFNET branching. Depends on the project design to adopt. Namely:

i) Line branch fittings

ii) Header branch fittings and

iii) Mixed branch fittings

When purchasing a REFNET, take note of the following features:

All REFNET should come with an Insulator

Make sure each branch comes with an insulator.

REFNET for Water and REFNET for Gas

Each branching kit comes as a set of 2. One for the gas and one for the water. You may observe that REFNET for gas inlet is larger in diameter as compared to the water outlet.

REFNET are fully customizable

Since every HVAC brand adopts different design of REFNET. Thus, it is normal for a REFNET manufacturer to customized the design based on user’s requirement. This can be simply done by providing us a technical or schematic drawing. Though there is no harm to even provide the actual samples to the manufacturer, to be prudent.

At Fiable, we customize various design of Refnet joints following designs and specifications requested by customers and end users. Here are some of the pointers for Fiable REFNET:

  • Copper Pipe for R410A with high density and pressure

  • Guaranteed durability and no leakage with special designed soldering material and aided welding inner space

  • Optimized shape dimension to ensure enhance fluency of refrigerant thereby increase overall cost performance

  • Fully customizable according to samples and drawings

  • Exceptional stringent quality control, each pipe has to pass 6.5MPa presure test before packing

  • Advanced workmanship and aesthetically produced surface treatment

REFNET in HVAC refers to a refrigerant piping network used in VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) and VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume) systems. It connects multiple indoor units to a single outdoor unit, optimizing refrigerant distribution for better energy efficiency, performance, and precise temperature control across various zones.
