Stitching Screws
When it comes to manufacturing roofing sheets, most manufacturers will produce it. Otherwise, the installer can do the overlapping on site.
Overlapping on the roofing sheets ensure sufficient coverage between 2 roofing sheets to avoid leaking problems from gaps, or blown off of roofing sheets due to strong winds and weak securement.
As overlapping is the points where 2 metal sheets meet, it is important to follow the proper installation procedure, with the correct fixing to ensure the installation meets the metal sheets warranty compliance.
Using the correct fasteners
Stitching screws provides sheets-to-sheets fixing. Designed to ensure proper installation on the overlapping point of the roofing sheets.
Here are some of the features:
i) Head Washer Flange with round cut EPDM washer
A proper installed EPDM washer should sits perfectly under the head to provide full coverage of the hole produced during penetration to prevent water leakage.
ii) Full Fine Thread
Using fine thread on the stitching screws provide better engagement between 2 thin sheets to avoid screws loosening over time
iii) Self -Drilling Point 1 (reduced point)
SDS Point 1 is designed to stitch 2 think metal sheets to each other with thickness less than 1.6mm.
It is not meant to be penetrate to the steel purlin below which is usually more than 5mm.
Installing Stitching Screws
i) At the overlapping point of 2 roofing sheets, place the stitching screws above
ii) Ensure the screws is installed with the correct torque and is placed 90° vertically for roof and horizontally for wall cladding.
Avoid over-tighten, under-tighten or off centers screws installation which can be indicated by observing the EPDM washer.
If it is fully compressed up to the point where the rubber is splayed out and visible, it is usually a sign of over-tightening.
Using the correct drivers with torque setting should help avoid the issues.
iii) With reduce point and fine thread, stitching screws provides tight engagement for 2 thin sheets with thickness less than 1.6mm
Corrosion Resistance
We all know that metals are subjected to rust and corrosion issues. With our proprietary organic coating applied on the screws layer, we are able to provide anti corrosion warranty to our customer.
It is also crucial to minimized the damage on the metal roof during installation to reduce the cultivating medium for rust. This includes scuffing and scratching of the roofing sheets.
To avoid galvanic corrosion, it is important to use Stainless Steel fasteners instead of carbon steel for aluminum panel.
